The door is rarely locked, although entering without invitation is considered frightfully forward.
Beyond it lies the private sanctuary of the Scunnered Lady: a room of carefully chosen comforts, unfinished letters, cooling cups of tea and perfectly organised irritation.
She is never quite here when visitors arrive.
The perfume bottle remains open. The tea is still warm. One page lies unfinished upon the desk.
One gets the distinct impression that she has only just stepped into the rose garden.
Please fold neatly before Grayson returns.
